Website choices

Cookie policy

The cookies and browser storage used on broadfield.farm and janz.farm, what each one does, and how to change your choices.

What cookies are

Cookies are small files a website saves in your browser. Websites can also save information in the browser's own storage. This page covers both, on broadfield.farm and janz.farm.

Necessary ones keep the websites working and do not need your permission. Anything else only runs if you allow it in Cookie settings.

Remembering what you were doing

These are saved in your browser's storage when you use something that needs them. They stay on your device. They are not used to follow you around the web.

  • broadfield-booking-draft-v1: the dates and choices you have made so far when booking a pitch.
  • janz-takeaway-basket:v1: your Jan'z takeaway basket, for up to 6 hours.
  • janz-takeaway-placed:v1: the takeaway order you are paying for, so it is not counted twice.
  • janz-book-choice: the day and number of people you picked for a Jan'z table, until you close the tab.
  • broadfield_chat_guest_token and broadfield_chat_conversation_id (janz_chat_ on janz.farm): keeps your live chat conversation open.
  • bf-checkin-night: and your booking reference: a night you are paying for at self check-in, until you close the tab.
  • broadfield-theme: light or dark, if you choose one.
  • broadfield:website-popup: and janz-event-strip-hidden: remember that you closed a notice, so it does not keep coming back.
  • broadfield-platform-version-baseline and broadfield-logo-played: notice when the website has been updated, and play the logo animation once per visit.

The Owner Portal and the staff system also remember a few settings in your browser once you sign in, such as a panel you opened or a tip you closed. They stay on your device.

Page speed, with no cookies

Vercel Speed Insights measures how fast our pages load. It sets no cookies, saves nothing in your browser and does not identify you.

Analytics, only if you allow it

  • Vercel Web Analytics

Counts the pages you visit and the booking steps you take, so we can see which pages help. It only loads after you choose Accept all or switch Analytics on, and never in the staff system, the Owner Portal, your guest account, My stay or our apps. It sets no cookies and saves nothing in your browser.

  • broadfield_website_session_id

Maps and reviews, only if you allow it

The Google map on our directions pages and the Tripadvisor ratings and award on some pages come from Google and Tripadvisor. When they load, those companies see your device's internet address and may set their own cookies.

They only load if you switch on "Maps and reviews" in Cookie settings, or tap Show map, Show rating or Show award where they would be. Until then you see a button instead. Tapping a button only shows it on that page.

Marketing, only if you allow it

We use the Meta Pixel to see which of our Facebook and Instagram adverts lead to a booking. It only loads if you switch on Marketing in Cookie settings or choose Accept all. It never loads in the staff system, the Owner Portal, your guest account, My stay or our apps.

When it runs, Meta sees the pages you visit on our websites and your device's internet address, and can link them to your Facebook or Instagram account. When you book, order, buy a gift voucher or send a holiday home or seasonal pitch form, we also tell Meta the value, with your email address and phone number in a scrambled form (hashed).

  • _fbp

The Meta Pixel's own cookie. It lets Meta tell one visit from another, to measure our adverts.

Saved when you arrive by tapping one of our adverts on Facebook or Instagram, so Meta can match your visit to that advert.

  • broadfield_meta_purchase:

Remembers that a booking was already counted, so it is not counted twice. Only saved with Marketing on.

Switch Marketing off in Cookie settings and the Meta Pixel stops at once, its cookies are removed, and nothing more about you goes to Meta from our server either. Meta's own privacy policy explains what Meta does with it: facebook.com/privacy/policy.
