Beaches & harbour

Saundersfoot

Broadfield sits right on the edge of Saundersfoot, a harbour village with a long sandy beach, a working harbour, crazy golf at Captain Silver's on the harbourside, and a good choice of shops, cafes and restaurants. The coast path also links Saundersfoot to the quieter beaches at Coppet Hall, Wiseman's Bridge and Amroth, each an easy walk from the last.

Medieval walled town

Tenby

A short drive along the coast, Tenby is one of Pembrokeshire's best-known towns — colourful harbour streets and three separate beaches to explore for a full day out.

Boat trip from Tenby

Caldey Island

A short boat trip from Tenby harbour takes you to Caldey Island, home to a working Cistercian monastery, quiet beaches and woodland walks. Boats run April to October, weather permitting.

Days outFor a change from the beach

Folly Farm Adventure Park & Zoo

A zoo, farm animals, a fairground and indoor play under one roof — a reliable full day out with children, whatever the weather is doing.

Manor House Wildlife Park

Just outside Tenby — big cats, primates and other rescued animals across attractive parkland.

Heatherton World of Activities

Go-karts, mini golf, high ropes and more just outside Tenby — popular with older kids and teens.

Carew Castle & Tidal Mill

A Norman castle beside Wales' only restored tidal mill, a short drive from the park — open March to November.

Colby Woodland Garden

A peaceful National Trust woodland garden near Amroth, good for a quieter walk away from the beach.

The Dinosaur Park

A woodland dinosaur trail plus rides and mini-golf just outside Tenby — a firm favourite with younger children.

Great Wedlock Farm & Deer Park

An eco-friendly deer park near Tenby where herds roam freely — join a safari or drive an electric buggy round the reserve.

Carew Market

A long-running Sunday market and car boot sale at Carew Airfield, a short drive away — local produce, plants and bargains, 8am–3pm every Sunday and bank holiday.

Worth the driveA little further, but worth the trip

Pembroke Castle

The birthplace of Henry VII — a huge, well-preserved Norman castle in Pembroke town, around 20 minutes away.

Manorbier Castle

A smaller, atmospheric castle overlooking its own beach, open daily mid-March to September.

Barafundle Bay

Regularly rated one of the UK's best beaches — reached on foot from Stackpole Quay, so it stays quiet even in summer.

Freshwater West

A dramatic, wide surfing beach on the west coast — worth the drive for the scenery alone.

Narberth

A stylish market town with independent shops, cafes and restaurants — a different pace to Tenby and Saundersfoot.

Boat trips from Tenby Harbour

Seal- and dolphin-watching trips and mackerel fishing run from Tenby Harbour through the summer months.
